European Research on Intelligent Computing in Civil Engineering

Over the past decade there have been strengthening links between the ASCE research community in civil engineering information technology ~IT! and the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering ~EG-ICE!. The links have resulted in both communities inviting personnel to their workshops and, as one would expect, there is now a growing trend toward collaborative research. This has to be welcomed and can only be beneficial. Also, as a research community working in IT with its inherent usage of networking, we should be at the forefront of international collaboration. As a part of this ongoing relationship, ASCE invited EG-ICE to submit a series of papers for a special issue. A total of 10
