A system-on-package integration of 60 GHz ASK transmitter

This paper presents a simple ASK system-on-package transmitter (SoP-Tx) integrating MMICs on a low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) multilayer circuit for high data rate WLAN/WPAN applications. The adopted modulation scheme is amplitude shift keying (ASK) for simple configuration with high data rate. The active circuit is the compact coplanar ASK modulation block including a 60 GHz-band fundamental mode oscillator, a buffer, and a switch. The passive circuits comprise of a dielectric waveguide filter (DWGF) and a microstrip patch antenna. LTCC technologies are used to implement the compact RF SoP-Tx module with high performance.
