The effect of nitrogen levels was evaluated on the yied of okra, Santa. Cruz, cv. This research was carried out at Universidade Federal da Paraiba , in Areia, state of Paraiba , Brazil, from April to October 2002, in experimental designe of randomized blocks, with five treatments (0; 50; 100; 150 and 200kg ha -1 of N), in four replications. Plots of 20 plants were used, spaced of 1,00m x 0,50m. The appraised characteristics were influenced by the treatments. Fruits length increased in a lineal way in relation of N elevation levels where the highest N value (14cm), obtained in the level of 200kg ha -1 N. Was inside of the limit for special fruits, that is among 11 to 15cm. The maximum production of commercial fruits per plant was 833g, obtained with 141kg ha -1 of N, while the level of 140kg ha -1 of N was responsible for the maximum production of commercial fruits (16,701kg ha -1 ). The most economic level of N was 133kg ha -1 and the foreseen revenue, due to its application, was of 8,453kg ha -1 of fruits.
