Coherence estimation using high resolution SAR images

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images are widely used in various applications, such as Digital Elevation Model (DEM), ground deformations monitoring and ground change detection. The coherence is commonly estimated through an interferometric SAR image pair to detect man-made fine scale changes. The sample coherence estimator is biased, especially for low-coherence values, which complicates change map analysis and interpretation. Recently, the complex reflectance change detection (CRCD) metric was proposed to improve change detection performance. The main objective of the present work is to provide a comparative study between the two change metrics (coherence and CRCD) using high resolution SAR images that are acquired by an indoor radar system.
