FLEXIBLE MARKERS GUIDE DRIVERS IN CHIP SEALS

In areas of ongoing construction or maintenance where there may be lane changes, edge drop-offs, or narrow lanes, motorists are exclusively depenedent on adequate markings to guide them safely. Flexible raised pavement markers are described which were designed to mark lane lines and provide delineation in chip seal projects where no other product will work. The markers were first applied in 1987 with the advent of higher standards for marking and the desire for removability of the markings in short term construction projects. They are easily applied with a factory applied butyl pad, and easily removed with no scarring. The flexible markers are applied prior to surface treatments, meet MUCTD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) specifications, and make the subsequent reapplication of permanent striping, easier.
