Traffic patten based resource allocation algorithm for hybrid transmission in LTE networks

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a new bearer service for 4G that greatly improves and simplifies wireless access to packet data transfer. The purpose of the LTE is to efficiently accommodate data users which are busty in nature. A key challenge of incorporating voice traffic into networks with efficiency guarantees lies in the difficulty of releasing the available communication resource when the channels are not used in the transmission process. A new scheme called traffic pattern based resource allocation scheme consisting of three algorithms is proposed for the integration of voice and data transmission based on the Markovian decision process (MDP). The scheme adaptively releases reserved channels of the data terminals according to traffic pattern under the constraint of capability and call blocking probability. Therefore, it provides efficient performance thereby leading to overall improvement compared with the original allocation system without sacrificing the data capacity of the system.
