Mobile ad hoc network assisted by satellites

A major challenge with mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) is to devise routing protocols displaying attractive route optimization, convergence speed and overhead properties. In that context, signaling of information such as link states and congestion reports contribute to e ective routing decisions. However, the distribution of signaling information su ers from hostile conditions inferred by the wireless mobile environment: dynamic topology, network partitioning and challenging link budgets. This contribution proposes to broadcast signaling information using satellite and evaluates its performance in the context of two scenarios.
