Regenerative Braking Control of Switched Reluctance Machine for Fully Electrified Vehicles

This paper presents a regenerative braking control scheme for Switched Reluctance Machines (SRM) in fully electrified Electric Vehicles (EVs). The main objective is to maximize the recovered energy during battery charging considering the physical characteristics of machine and battery. SRM as a traction motor in EVs is a non-ideal power source. Therefore, the proposed energy regenerative brake employs the back electromotive force (EMF) of the motor in the braking process as a voltage source to recharge the battery.
