An unusual solitary lesion on the glans penis

A 35-year-old uncircumcised man presented initially to the dermatology department with a 12-month history of a palpable lump on the ventral aspect of his penile shaft. He had also noticed an abnormal area around the urethral meatus (Fig. 1). There was no history of haematuria or any lower urinary tract symptoms. Examination of the penile shaft revealed a longitudinal thickening of the ventral aspect of the penis which was initially thought to be a Peyronie s plaque although there was no history of penile curvature or erectile dysfunction. He subsequently underwent a cystoscopy which was entirely normal.
