Experimental Validation of a New Pedestrian Speed Estimator for OFDM Systems in Indoor Environments

This paper investigates a new pedestrian speed estimation method for OFDM systems. Correlation coefficients are calculated from the wideband channel frequency response and the instantaneous coherence time is estimated for a certain envelope correlation coefficient. The performance of the proposed method is verified by means of an experimental system in order to predict the reliability of the estimator. The algorithm gives an average error of less than 2% for pedestrian speeds and its computational complexity is low.
