Microprocessor-based systems for optical spectroscopy

Abstract A μP-based apparatus for the acquisition of optical spectra, both of continuous wave and pulsed sources, is described. The system automatically scans the wavelength range by means of a monochromator driven by a stepping motor. Averaging techniques are performed by the μP unit, in order to improve the S/N ratio and compensate for fluctuations of the sources. On-line monitoring and display facilities are provided. Experimental spectra obtained with this apparatus are presented.
