L'article compare les principes structuraux de base aux niveaux du texte et de la proposition de maniere a determiner dans quelle mesure une grammaire fonctionnelle telle que celle developpee par Halliday peut etre utilisee comme ressource pour raisonner sur la structure du discours. Il montre comment les categories et les structures developpees pour analyser la grammaire de la proposition dans un cadre linguistique fonctionnel systemique peuvent etre etendues a des unites plus larges que la phrase et, par consequent, a des textes entiers
