Application of Titanium Nickelide-Based Alloys in Engineering

In this review, we discuss the main aspects of practical application of alloys with the shape-memory effect, titanium nickelide first of all, in engineering. We do not consider inventions related to the application of these materials in medicine, since they are presented in another review in this special issue of the journal. This review briefly discusses the main directions of technical applications of materials with thermomechanical mem- ory (shape memory), analyze the problems of creation of "martensitic" energy converters (engines), describes their application in space technology, and, in conclusion, some general principles of application of such mate- rials are formulated.
