Determination of forward slip in H-beam rolling

Abstract In this study, a formulation for forward slip in the process of the continuous rolling of H-beams is obtained through the use of the equilibrium equations. To simplify the analysis and yet give reasonable results, the web and flange are modeled separately as plane problems. Consideration is given to as many as possible of the parameters affecting forward and backward slip. Results from the analysis, in general, show very good agreement with experimental data.
