On some lower bounds for smallest singular value of matrices

Abstract In this note, we use a simple idea to considerably improve a lower bound for smallest singular value of matrices. Numerical examples show that our bound could be very close to the exact smallest singular value. We also compare it with existing bounds and discuss our approach in possibly improving the existing bounds.
