Fixture de-sign using prolog: An expert system

Abstract A program for designing fixtures to be built out of a set of given elements has been implemented. Its input is a description of the shape of the workpiece, the machining and the co-ordinates of the support and of the clamps. The program generates a sequence of blueprints of the fixtures. We describe the relevant features of Prolog and the appropriate use of logic programming in computer-aided engineering.
