An automated instrumentation system for flow and loss measurements in a cascade

Abstract An automated system for measuring with five-hole pressure probes is described in this paper. This system was developed to deliver accurate results from a low speed linear cascade where competing geometries for aeroengines were tested. The total pressure differences between different geometries were small so an accurate measuring system was essential. The aim of this paper is to reduce the learning curve required to produce multi-hole pressure probe measurements. To this end the source codes to many of the programs used in the measuring system have been freely published for this paper.
