A 40 Gb/s 2.5 V 2/sup 7/-1 PRBS generator in SiGe using a low-voltage logic family

A 40 Gb/s PRBS generator with a sequence length of 2/sup 7/-1 is implemented in a SiGe BiCMOS process with f/sub t/=120 GHz. It consumes 550 mW from a 2.5 V supply. Low-voltage operation is achieved through the use of an alternative family of logic gates with reduced device stacking.
