The European Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Centre (EISAC) initiative and its technological assets

The European Infrastructure Simulation and Analysis Centre (EISAC) initiative has been launched in the FP7 CIPRNet project to empower the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) program aiming at supporting Public Authorities and Infrastructure Operators. The Italian node EISAC.it relies on several technological systems: among them, a new Decision Support System called CIPCast enabling risk forecast due to natural events. CIPCast provides Operators and other Emergency Management players of a crisis assessment, from the identification of disrupted assets (e.g., buildings, electrical networks, pipelines, cables, roads) to the measure of the expected impact of services outages on citizens. The CIPCast system is described with its available functionalities and used to analyze synthetic critical scenarios in the city of Roma, related to flooding and earthquake.
