Maximum Torque per Ampere Control Based on Active Flux Concept for DTC of IPMSMs

This paper proposes an online calculation method to operate an interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) in direct torque control (DTC) system on maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) points. Based on active flux concept, a mathematical model of IPMSM is established to associate the torque with the stator flux linkage for the proposed MTPA control strategy in this paper. And the torque and stator flux linkage achieved by this model can be directly utilized as the references in DTC system. Thus the online procedure of implementing the MTPA operation is simplified and there is no need to generate an offline look-up table. The validity of the proposed method has been verified by simulation results.
