The invention provides a method for detecting equivalent inertia of rotating parts of an automobile and an engine. The method is characterized in that a twice-sliding method or integrated multi-sliding method is carried out for a chassis power detecting machine of the automobile. The method comprises the following steps: measuring to obtain the equivalent inertia mt of a rack and the equivalent inertia m0 of a neutral-gear power transmission system of a gearbox; switching the automobile to the high gear of the gearbox to reach a high speed; completely releasing an accelerator pedal; remaining the gear of the gearbox together with a clutch; measuring the equivalent inertia of the whole engine power transmission system and the whole rack of the automobile, so as to calculate the rotating inertia Ie of the engine and the equivalent inertia mei of the engine rotating part at different gears of the gearbox; adding m0 and the estimated equivalent inertia mz of a non-drive wheel to obtain the equivalent inertia Mi of the automobile rotating part at different gears of the gearbox. With the adoption of the method, the accuracy in calculation of accelerating resistance of the automobile under the accelerating condition can be improved.
