Research and Design of Distributed Self-Adaptive Highway Monitoring System Based on WSN

Wireless Sensor Network is a a brand new technology of information acquisition and processing. Compared with the various technologies applied in the current transportation monitoring system, Wireless Sensor Network has the advantages of self-organizing and distribution. In this thesis we have proposed the design of distributed self-organizing highway monitoring system based on Wireless Sensor Network, and we have constructed Safety Distance Monitoring Model between vehicles by combining with concrete datas such as road visibility, traffic flow, etc. The model can exploit the advantage of WSN to calculate approriate safe driving distance between vehicles by referring to road visibility, traffic flow and others at any time. When the distance between driving cars is smaller than the safety distance, the drivers would be warned by menas of car radio, car GPS, RFID and other radio device to avoid happening of traffic accidents.
