Year of action for major pipe line projects

Pipe Line Industry's annual survey of more than 200 companies reveals plans for a record 28,328 miles of new pipeline construction during 1977, including 7338 miles in the U.S. and 20,940 miles in other areas. This total for crude, products, and natural-gas lines is up 11.6% from 1976 construction. Gas transmission and gathering lines will account for 10,863 miles worldwide, 2110 in the U.S. Worldwide compressor-station additions will exceed 1.3 million hp, including 212,000 in the U.S. The survey statistics do not include data from the U.S.S.R. and China.
