COMPLIANT MICRO-MECHANISM DESIGN FOR BIOCHIP MICROARRAYER PRINT HEAD

Abstract The evolution of biological analysis methods requires the improvement of the productivity and the flexibility of biochip microarray realization process. Our work is dedicated in the development of a print head for microarrayer. The study is oriented in the control of the touching force and positioning of each print pin. The field of micromechanisms is approached with compliant guiding design in order to increase the spot density and quality and the pin life. We propose a pre-curved leaf type linear flexible guidance that presents a limited axial stiffness, large deflexion and small size.
