Hydrogen Transfer in Pt-Mo Heterodinuclear Hydride Complexes Promoted by Alkynes

Reactions of a Pt-Mo heterodinuclear hydride complex, (dpe)HPt-MoCp(CO)3 with alkynes at room temperature lead to facile reductive elimination giving HMoCp(CO)3 accompanied by the formation of Pt(alkyne)(dpe). When terminal alkynes are employed, further Markovnikov addition of HMoCp(CO)3 to the coordinated alkyne takes place to give new heterodinuclear alkenyl complexes (dpe)(μ-H2C=CR)Pt-MoCp(μ-CO)(CO).
