Hemodialysis‐Associated Hepatitis B: Revised Recommendations for Serologic Screening

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection has historically been a major health problem among hemodialysis patients and staff. Routine serologic screening, infection control practices, and the use of hepatitis B vaccine have had a major impact on the prevention of HBV transmission. In this article we review historical trends, review preventive measures, and offer revised recommendations for screening in hemodialysis centers.
