Endoscopic 2D particle image velocimetry (PIV) flow field measurements in IC engines

Abstract. The paper describes camera and laser endoscopes designed for particle image velocimetry (PIV) applications like measurements in IC engines or turbomachinery. Endoscopic PIV measurements through 8-mm optical access on an IC engine are presented and compared with the measurements using standard optical access through a window.
