ITE FUTURE DIRECTIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS

The Future Directions Advisory Committee appointed to address the challenges and issues facing transportation professionals in these uncertain times, and the issues they addressed are discussed. The Institute of Transportation Engineers, it is ponted out, should continue to be the primary organization for individual transportation professionals, and the manner in which this may be accomplished, is noted. Real and perceived barriers to attracting and retaining nonengineering members are discussed. The Institute must not allow existing organizational structure to be a barrier to identifying and implementing needed change.
