Exploring the Effects of Personality on Collaboration Technology Transition

Predicting the successful introduction of collaboration technologies has been a challenge for both researchers and practitioners. Prior research suggests that personality characteristics may represent antecedents to technology acceptance, adoption, and sustained use. This study explored the influence of personality on technology transition. The Five Factor Model of personality and the Technology Transition Model (TTM) were used to test several hypotheses and research questions looking for associations between the respective dimensionality of these constructs. Results evinced several moderate correlations between Big 5 dimensions and TTM dimensions. Only the Big 5 dimension of neuroticism appears to have no association with the TTM. Implications are discussed.
