A method of encoding video data comprising: determining (602) a first type of prediction for a block of video data in a portion P; representing (604) the first type of prediction as a syntax element of type P prediction portion; determining (606) a second type of prediction for a block of video data in a portion B; representing (608) the second type of prediction as a syntax element prediction type of portion B; determining (610) one P binarizing portion for the syntax element type P prediction portion; determining (612) one binarizing portion B to the syntax element prediction type of portion B; and encoding (614) the video data based on the syntax element binarizaciones rate prediction portion P and the syntax element prediction type of portion B; wherein the binarization of syntax element type prediction portion P and the binarization of syntax element prediction type of portion B are determined using the same logic binarization.
