Computer modeling to predict corrosion rates in gas condensate wells containing CO{sub 2}

Phase V-Version 2 of the USL Corrosion Model has been developed. This phase of the corrosion model uses a Windows format. The changes in the new model have greatly reduced the computer run time from 3 hours to less than 15 minutes. Tabulated and graphical results versus depth are now available as part of the output. In addition to this, a number of technical improvements have been made using the expanded data base for mass transfer controlled wells and for erosional flow wells. A new discriminant analysis equation for erosional flow and a downhole pH model have been developed. The downhole pH model includes organic acids in the calculation. The average percent difference between the predicted and actual corrosion rates for 54 wells was {+-} 17.6%.
