High precision force transducer with new method for online compensation of parasitic effects

Abstract The evaluation of the uncertainty of forces realised with force standard and force calibration machines requires force transfer standards yielding inter-laboratory comparisons with minimum measurement uncertainties even with changing mounting conditions. This article is to introduce a new transfer force transducer which—due to its mechanical and electrical structure—ensures a reduced mounting-position-dependent measurement uncertainty. By using a multi-channel measuring amplifier system and applying a compensating algorithm for the axial force signal, a further significant increase in reproducibility can be achieved.
