IEEE "Fellow"

The highest grade achievable within the IEEE is that of Fellow. It is not a grade that can be applied for by any Senior Member; rather, it is one bestowed through nomination by one's peers and coworkers. The nominators must verify that the candidate's achievements are extraordinary and that he(she) deserves to be part of a select group of recognized, outstanding, electrical engineers. Elevation to Fellow represents reaching the pinnacle in one's profession and often is the greatest single professional recognition an engineer receives in his entire career.
