Modified spatial smoothing for coherent jammer suppression without signal cancellation

An adaptive array processor is presented for suppressing coherent jammers. It performs spatial smoothing, after removing the desired signal, to adapt a weight vector, which is then copied to a slave beamformer to eliminate jammers. This processor can avoid signal cancellation occurring in performing spatial smoothing with the desired signal present. Nulls generated by the processor in directions of coherent jammers are much deeper than those generated by performing spatial smoothing with the desired signal present. >
