Teaching Journal and Serials Information to Undergraduates

Summary Instruction librarians are confronted with the task of successfully conveying the complexity of serial publications to undergraduates who often lack even the most basic library literacy skills and concept of scholarly communication. There are interactive instructional approaches and exercises that can be used to effectively address citation elements, scholarly vs. popular sources, OPAC serial records, online database components, and choosing an appropriate index.
