Reproductive and productive performance of crossbred pigs

Significant differences between genetic groups with 75% LWY-desi crossbreds excelling in most of the production traits indicate its superiority over the half-breds. However, the half-breds recorded superior litter traits. With the medium heritability recorded for litter traits in the present study, selective breeding of75% LWY-desi crossbreds for increased reproductive performance might increase the overall productivity of this genetic group. Significantly favourable means recorded for most of the traits during cooler seasons indicated the need to provide cooler ambient ten1peratures to maximize their performance.
