Publisher Summary
To establish simpler method on the evaluation of column end moments in semirigid frames, an applicability of B1/B2 method is numerically discussed. This chapter considers three types of B1/B2 methods of which two are used in AISC-LRFD specification and the other one considers only P – Δ effect. Numerical investigations are conducted by varying the connection stiffness from nearly rigid connection to nearly pinned connection. Comparing the results obtained from second-order elastic analysis with nonlinear connection stiffness, it is shown that the present method considering only P – Δ effect gives reasonable values and will be useful for practical semirigid frame designs.
