Digital television program selection method

The invention relates to the digital television technology. The invention solves the problem that a user needs to take a long time to find out the favorite program in the prior digital television EPG (electric program guide) system, and provides a digital television program selection method. The method comprises the following steps: a digital television receiving and playing device receives and stores detailed EPG information, including SDT data, EIT data and the like; and when needing to retrieve, the user inputs a retrieval request which at least comprises key words, and the digital television receiving and playing device retrieves in the stored EPG data according to the key words and retrieval cycle in the retrieval request and finally displays the retrieval results for the user to select. The invention is convenient for the users and suitable for digital television receiving and playing devices.
