HUB BASED NETWORK DESIGN: A REVIEW

Globalization of trade markets has increased the need for efficient logistics systems. Therefore, logistics systems have started to evolve based on cost and service quality measures. Hubs are transshipment points where shipments can be consolidated and disseminated by exploiting economies of scale. Hub based networks, hence, can provide promising solutions to current demand for efficient logistics systems. The objective of this paper is to review and present a classification of hub location problems based on the very recent publications. Our aim is to show the recent trends for hub location literature and compare it with previous trends and expectations.
