A Method Based on Meta-Model for Updating the Finite Element Model of Bridges Using the Measured Static and Dynamic Data

A method based on meta-model for updating the finite element model (FEM) of bridges was proposed by using measured static and dynamic results. First, the entire bridge was divided into several substructures, and then the meta-model was built, representing the relationship between updated parameters and static and dynamic properties of the bridge. Secondly, the measured static and dynamic properties of bridges were deemed as the updated objects respectively, so FEM updating was transformed into a multi-objective optimization problem; which may overcome the difficulty of selecting the weighting factors of the objective function. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method was demonstrated by updating the FEM for a practical bridge by using the measured static and dynamic data.
