Self-scheduling and energy bidding in competitive electricity markets

Abstract This paper describes the self-scheduling and energy bidding using augmented Lagrangian relaxation in competitive electricity markets. Transmission congestion is incorporated through locational marginal prices. Fuel and emission constraints are also considered in the model. This paper also represents the derivation of the energy bid curves as a function of generation schedule. An IEEE-RTS system is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
