In this paper, the problem of controlling dc-dc power converter stage for battery electric vehicle (BEV) charger is dealt with. The control objective is to ensure an adequate battery charge taking into account that the battery inner voltage is not accessible for measurement. This goal is reached by using the CC-CV charge method. It consists of a constant current (CC) mode followed by a constant voltage (CV) mode. After a modelling of the whole system (composed by dc-dc power converter and battery), an output feedback controller (combining an observer and a state feedback controller) is designed. Numerical simulations are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
