Direct Simulation Scheme Derived from the Boltzmann Equation. II. Multicomponent Gas Mixtures

The stochastic law that describes the collision process in a simulation cell was derived for a multicomponent gas mixture from the Boltzmann equation for a spatially uniform gas. It is shown that the law for the gas mixture takes a form analogous to and consistent with that for a monocomponent gas. A few test calculations show that the results obtained by using the present simulation scheme agree well with the exact solutions of the moment equations of the Boltzmann equation.
