EVALUATION ON SIMULATION MODELS FOR URBAN CORRIDOR SIGNAL OPTIMIZATIONS

The coordinated actuated corridor or network optimization became more necessary than before, there are some software developed recently that are able to optimize actuated coordinated signals. The main purposes of this paper are first, to review the characteristics of the software recently released, second, to compare the results of each software for the present condition of network, third, comparison of capability for corridor optimization. Four simulation models which contain the function of simulating actuated signal are evaluated for 35 approaches on 9 intersections. The models used in this study are the latest version HCS, Synchro, Transyt-7F and CORSIM.. The different cycle lengths, splits and offsets optimized by Synchro and Transyt-7F are evaluated by CORSIM and the characteristics of signal timing plan of Synchro and Transyt-7F are compared.
