Body temperature as a means of estimating the time of death.

Abstract An explanation is given for the sigmoid shape of the cooling curve of the human corpse. The theory underlying the equations for estimating the time of death from the body temperature is discussed. Reasons are given why an equation consisting of two exponential terms is adequate and mention is made of the way such an equation could be used in practice.
