Is Housework Good for Retirees

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether perceived involvement in household work after retirement relates to husbands' and wives' retirement adaptation. Data based on a sample of 611 recent retirees show a positive effect of postretirement housework involvement on women's adjustment. For men, the relationship between housework and adaptation is contingent on such factors as health, spouse's health, and marital retirement reasons.
