A New and Efficient Method for Curve Drawing using Circular Arcs and Straight Line Segments

A new method of curve interpolation is suggested for computer graphics applications. In this method, the curve between two interpolating points consists of circular arc and straight line segments. Since there exist efficient graphics software and hardware to implement circular arc and straight lines, this approach is very fast. In this method, it is ensured that the resultant curve is at least first order continuous (ie continuous upto the first derivative) everywhere. It is local in the sense that change in one interpolating point will change the curve in four intervals only. Also, the shape of the curve can be modified locally by an interaction parameter.
