Design and Investigation of Compact Planar Orthogonal 4-Element Antenna for Portable UWB MIMO Terminals “S-Parameter Analysis”

: The main goal of this paper is to design antenna which is useful in diversity applications for UWB communication. As UWB communication makes use of unlicensed frequency band (3.1 GHz–10.6 GHz) allocated by Federal Communication Commission (FCC) for setting up personal communication systems within home or office. Using MIMO technique, the performance of the system can be increased. Ultra-wideband (also known as UWB, ultra-wide band and ultra-band) is a radio technology pioneered by  Robert A. Schorton , and others that can use a very low energy level for short-range, high-bandwidth communications over a large portion of the radio spectrum. UWB has traditional applications in  non-cooperative radar imaging . Most recent applications target sensor data collection, precision locating and tracking applications. This paper presents the design of a compact 4-port MIMO antenna in orthogonal orientation with an overall size of 35×35 mm 2. The S-Parameters of the antenna have been studied to check the return loss and isolation of the presented design.
