Soil Disintegration Characteristics of Terrace Hedgerows in Loess Hilly-gully Areas

Anti-soil erosion capabilities of terrace hedgerows were examined by static water disintegration test. The relationship between disintegrating quantity and plant roots in different soil depths was analyzed to understand the effects of different terrace hedgerows on anti-soil erosion ability. The results showed that terrace hedgerows could obviously decrease the soil disintegrating quantity and increase the anti-erosion ability of terrace ridges. In the control ridges without plant roots, with the increase of the soil depth, disintegrating quantity decreased for the increase of the soil density.Between the dual effects of root system and soil density, roots were more influential than soil density, disintegrating quantity decreased with the increase of the number of effective roots, and the anti-erosion capability increased.
