Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems for paper industry are an emerging research topic due to the need for automated identification system for paper industry which would carry on the identification codes of paper and board reels throughout their life cycle, from paper mill to end user. End userspsila needs play on important part in exploiting RFID in paper industry, because they set the requirements and specifications for the reels they order from manufacturers. This paper discusses the application of passive ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID systems to paper industry, concentrating especially in the end users point of view. The supply chain of paper reels is presented and identification locations in supply chain are discussed. In addition the case study of printing house as end user of the paper reel was performed including measurements in application environment, and results are presented in this paper.
